About VideoBGNinja

No watermark on the free export.Transparent WebM, GIF or green screen, straight out — free exports go up to 1920 px.

VideoBGNinja cuts the background out of a short video of a person — no green screen, no account, no watermark, no charge. It is one tool that does one thing, built and run by one person in the Netherlands on a computer standing in a room here.

Why it can be free

Unscreen, Runway and the rest charge by the minute because they rent their graphics cards from a cloud provider by the second. I don't rent anything. The model — Robust Video Matting, open source, trained on humans — runs on a card I bought once, in a machine whose electricity bill has my name on it. Your clip costs me a few minutes of power. The ads on the page cover that, and that is the entire business model.

What it costs you instead is patience: one card, one queue, so a busy evening means your video waits behind somebody else's. That trade seemed better than a subscription.

Privacy, concretely

Because it all runs on that one machine, your video never touches a third-party AI service. The pipeline is simple and strict: your upload is deleted the moment processing finishes, and the results (the transparent WebM, green-screen MP4 and alpha matte) are wiped within 45 minutes. Nothing is stored longer, nothing is watched, and nothing is ever used to train anything. If the server restarts, leftover files are purged too. The full details are in the privacy policy, which is short, because there isn't much data to write a policy about.

Honest about what it does (and doesn't)

The model was trained on humans. That is why it can hold on to hair, hands and a moving body without a green screen, and it is exactly where it stops. Talking heads, vlogs, interviews, streamers, dance clips: excellent. Pets and products: a coin flip. A clip with no person in it comes back nearly empty, and the tool will tell you so rather than hand you a black rectangle and take the credit. I would rather write that here than promise "any video" and waste your upload. The filming guide covers what helps.

Part of a small family of tools

VideoBGNinja shares its hardware with the other tools I run, including BGNinja for photo backgrounds and StemGrab for splitting music into stems. Same idea every time: one job, done properly, free, nothing kept afterwards.

About the name

The name at the top. Sam Ridder is a pen name. I am one person and I would like to stay one person rather than a search result. The hardware, the queue and the limits described above are all real.
