✂️ Cut out the person → transparent WebM, see-through GIF, green-screen MP4 or alpha matte.
🎬 Just make a GIF → works on any clip, person or not — and you pick which seconds.
🔍 Upscale it 4× → old phone footage, VHS transfers and downloaded clips, sharpened to 4× the size.

A transparent GIF made with VideoBGNinja, shown on a checkerboard so you can see straight through the background

Yes — you get a real GIF too. Not a video: a see-through GIF you can paste straight into Discord, Slack or a stream overlay. The checkerboard is what shows through it. No person in your clip? Then you still get a normal GIF, background and all.

Uploading…

From clip to clean cut-out

1

Upload a clip

MP4, MOV, WebM and more, up to 2 GB and 90 seconds. Filmed anywhere: your room, outside, the office. No green screen needed.

2

Every frame separated automatically

Robust Video Matting runs on our own GPU and tracks the subject through the whole clip (hair, motion and all), usually in under a minute.

3

Download four versions

A transparent WebM, a transparent GIF for stickers, a green-screen MP4 for any editor, and an alpha matte for pro compositing. Original audio stays in.

1 YOUR CLIP 2 SUBJECT CUT OUT 3 DOWNLOAD
One clip in, four files out. The AI lifts the person off the background frame by frame, then hands you a transparent WebM (checkerboard = see-through) or a green-screen MP4.
20 seconds, nothing cut: a clip goes in, the person comes back out on a clean background — no green screen involved.

What we actually see

In the 40 days before this was written, VideoBGNinja logged 9,211 page views from 5,033 real visitors (the rest bots) in 109 countries — most from India, the United States and Germany. Of the clips people actually tried to process, 189 were rejected before we even started (wrong file, too big, too long) and 24 more failed partway through after they'd already been accepted. That's not a hidden number: it's what running a free tool on real hardware looks like, not a marketing chart with only good news on it.

Across the named tools on this site, background removal is used far more than anything else: 41 of the 96 tracked tool visits went to the plain transparent-video export, versus 20 for the GIF maker and 15 for the upscaler. The rest — a white background, a green screen, or trying it without a face in frame — are the long tail, a handful of visits each. If you're wondering which mode to click first, that's your answer: most people just want the person cut out, nothing fancier.

Where a cut-out clip lands

Talking-head videos

Put yourself over slides, gameplay or product shots: the webcam-cutout look without buying a green screen.

TikTok / Reels / Shorts

Swap your messy room for any background. Export the green-screen MP4 and use your app's chroma-key effect.

Editing & VFX

The alpha matte drops into After Effects, Resolve or Premiere as a track matte: clean edges, no rotoscoping.

Questions, answered

Do I really not need a green screen?

Correct. The tool (Robust Video Matting) understands what a person looks like and separates them from any background, frame by frame, with temporal tracking so edges stay stable while you move.

What do I get back?

Four files: a WebM with real transparency (VP9 alpha, works in browsers, OBS and modern editors), a transparent GIF (the first 10 seconds at 480px — a see-through sticker for Discord, Slack or a stream overlay), a green-screen MP4 (universal, key it out anywhere) and an alpha matte MP4 (black & white mask for compositing). Your original audio is kept in the video files; a GIF has no sound.

What are the limits?

Free: max 2 GB and 90 seconds per clip, processed at up to 1920px on the long side. A Pro pass raises that to 4 GB, 4 minutes and your clip's full resolution (up to 4K), and adds a ProRes 4444 MOV. Longer material? Trim it into parts first.

What happens to my video?

Your upload is deleted the moment processing finishes, and the results are wiped within 45 minutes. Nothing is stored, watched or used for training. See the privacy policy.

Does it work on animals or objects?

It's trained on people, so humans work best. Pets and objects sometimes work, but expect softer edges, try it, it's free. And you always get a GIF: if there's no person to cut out, your clip comes back as a normal GIF with its background — nothing is wasted.

Why is it free?

The site is supported by ads. The tool runs on our own hardware, so we don't pay a cloud bill per video, and you don't pay anything at all.
